About Bethune Pest Control in Detroit

Who runs the company, what it treats and the buildings and neighborhoods it works in.

A pest problem feels personal. It’s your kitchen, your bedroom or your basement, and whoever comes to look at it will see the house as it really is, clutter and all. It’s easier to make that call when you know who runs the company, what kind of work it does and where it goes.

Lindsay Santana

Lindsay Santana owns Bethune Pest Control. Her work centers on mice and rats in older basements, cockroaches in apartment kitchens, bed bugs, and wasp nests under eaves.

She traces how pests get in, then seals gaps and sets treatments to match. Before starting, Lindsay walks the property and gives the estimate in writing.

Afterward she sweeps up, removes any debris and leaves the work area as she found it. She also calls customers to report what she found and when to check back. A first visit follows that same pattern, and knowing what to expect can make the first call a little easier.

Started in Detroit in 2018

Lindsay Santana started Bethune Pest Control in 2018. The company works in Detroit and nearby Dearborn and Hamtramck, in the kinds of buildings these neighborhoods are full of: single-family houses, flats, duplexes, apartment buildings and small storefronts.

Pest trouble here follows the seasons. Mice move into basements when the weather turns cold, ants and wasps build up through the warm months, and roaches and bed bugs carry on indoors all year.

The Pest Problems We Take On

The work is general pest treatment for ants, cockroaches and spiders, rodent trapping and exclusion, bed bug treatment, and wasp and hornet nest removal. Each calls for its own approach, and most jobs mix more than one method.

Rodent work leans on finding and closing the way in, because trapping alone leaves the door open for the next mouse. Roach and ant work leans on baits placed where the insects travel, so they carry it back to the rest. Bed bug work is slow and careful by nature and usually takes more than one round. Nest removal depends on where the nest sits and how big it has grown. Spiders tend to follow their food, so when the ants, flies and other insects thin out, the spiders usually do too.

Houses, Flats, Duplexes and Storefronts

The same pest acts differently depending on the building. In a single-family house, the basement, the foundation and the garage are usually where rodent trouble starts, and the whole property can be treated and sealed at once. Porches, steps and crawlspaces add hidden spaces underneath where mice can nest out of sight. Detached garages and sheds give mice and wasps a quiet place to settle before they move closer to the house.

Flats and duplexes put two households under one roof. Mice travel between floors along pipes and wiring, and roaches move through shared walls, so what happens in one unit often shows up in the other. A treatment tends to hold better when both households know about it.

Apartment buildings add more shared space: trash rooms, laundry rooms, basements and the plumbing that runs from unit to unit. Roaches and bed bugs in particular can spread along those routes, and the building owner or manager usually needs to be part of the plan.

Small storefronts have their own pressures. Deliveries bring in boxes that can carry roaches, back rooms collect cardboard and clutter, and a pest seen by a customer is a bigger problem than one seen at home. Work there often has to fit around the hours the shop is open.

If something has been bothering you at home or at your shop, call us at (313) 351-0267 and describe what you’ve seen, or use Schedule a Visit to send a short note about the building and the problem.
